“I’ll lend you a dog, I’ll lend it to you for a set time,” a voice whispered to me. You will love him in life and mourn his death. He will stay with you for 12 or 14 years, maybe for much more or maybe for much less. Will you do it? Will you take care of him until I come back for him? He will do things that will leave you speechless and the time that he stays with you will fill the memories that will lighten the loss of him, whenever it may be. He cannot remain forever because everything on earth is destined to end. There are lessons that I want this dog to learn and that’s why I searched all over the world for a teacher for him, I chose you. Will you repay my effort by giving him all your love? Will you be able not to hate life and the whole world when I come to take it back?
I replied: Yes, I am ready and I will know how to love him, the joy and tenderness with which he will fill my life will be able to fill the pain of the loss when you want him with you again, I will always be grateful for this. I hope you come very late, but when it comes, I will understand. If through my love I have been able to fulfill your plan for him, then help me to be strong when I cry as you take him away. And remembering him I will understand that what he learned from someone is me….
